Files You Should Know About Before You Start
Before you start searching for and reviewing potential projects for your contribution, you should have some familiarity with what files and features you may see. Not all of the files mentioned here exist in all projects, but they’re common enough that knowing about them makes it much easier for you to navigate projects.
Most of these files are located in the root directory of a project, but once in a while, you come across a project that placed these files elsewhere. If you don’t see one or more of these files in the root directory, see whether the project has a docs or similarly named documentation directory. You may find the file you’re looking for there.
