2 Meta-discourse: definitions, strategies and functions
2.1 Introduction
The aim of this chapter is to examine the main concepts related to the expression of meta-discursive values in language. We will start by reviewing the main labels used to describe the function of meta-comment. Subsequently we will focus on the description of the main strategies used in language to convey this general contextualising function, such as parentheticals and CCs.
