5.2. Image optimization

Once you have sliced your graphic file into the desired pieces using the Slice tool, you are ready to export the slices for the Web. Two steps are required in exporting graphics from Fireworks for use on the Web: optimizing and exporting. You should spend some time with this process to make sure you obtain the optimal balance of compression and quality. Every byte you save with optimization will add up to big bandwidth savings, and thus better performance for your users, but you want to make sure you are providing them with a high-quality experience with your images so they continue to come back!
