Chapter 4. Server ROI Analysis
VMware Capacity Planner produces a lot of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)-related information. This chapter presents both some of the high-level output produced and some of the more detailed information, which provides a breakdown of where the costs lie.
Because of the immense savings in power and cooling, the client decided to double the blades environment to accommodate the planned growth of roughly 100 servers over the next year. The TCO information in this chapter is based on 24 blades for the new virtualized design and 134 existing servers, plus 100 additional servers for planned expansion over the next year.
