Identity theft is the fastest-growing crime in the world. It is the top concern of people contacting the Federal Trade Commission and has now passed drug trafficking as the number-one crime in the world, costing the United States more than 60 billion dollars over the years.
The most common ways we interact with the outside world from our computers is through the use of web browsers, instant messaging, and e-mail. Identity thieves use the Internet as their tool for stealing identities. Therefore, securing our messaging systems has become a high priority to protect us from identity theft.
