Chapter 10. Introduction to MDX
In this chapter, we'll work with Multidimensional Expressions (MDX), which is the native query language for SSAS. MDX is a SQL-like language used to query SSAS cubes.
Although there will be situations that cause you to write MDX expressions or queries "from scratch," the design of the BIDS interface really minimizes your need to author much of the MDX that you'll need for your BI project in this way. A large number of MDX templates, samples, and wizards are available in BIDS and SSMS for you to use and customize.
