Adaptation Is Not Imitation

In the eponymous American TV show, the artificially intelligent Max Headroom begins life as a memory dump of synaptic circuits. The memories are those of Edison Carter whose last recall is a high-speed collision with a barrier marked, Max. Headroom 2.3m. A person translated as data, Max is born into a world in which the networks have won the cable war, streaming never existed, and TVs blare 24/7 by law. The poor are given free ones.
