Ethics Is Directed to Secure Inner Perfection
Do you want a job teaching artificial intelligence? It may be more difficult than you think.
John Cochrane of Stanford and Jerry Coyne at the University of Chicago report on diversity and inclusion statements required of anyone seeking a position or promotion at the University of California. If a statement doesn’t exceed a minimum numerical cutoff for promoting diversity, a candidacy is terminated before field qualifications are assessed. One must have increased diversity in the past and provide evidence you will promulgate it in the future should you be hired. Research must be focused on underserved communities and participation in scientific associations aiming to increase diversity.
