This book is intended to serve both as a textbook and as a reference book. As a textbook it would be best suited for a graduate level course. In fact the book grew out of class notes written for a full year graduate course in radiation and scattering taught at The Catholic University of America. The reader need not have a background in acoustics, however. All of the necessary equations and concepts are included in an effort to make the text self-contained.
