Installing Packages
Now, let's go out and find some software to install. The first step is to find out what's available. Just about all software available for Linux is also available for FreeBSD because binary compatibility allows you to do anything up to and including audio/video playback using Linux software.
If you have the ports collection installed, you can see a categorized view of all available software by going to /usr/ports and just looking around at the filesystem. But we'll be covering the ports collection momentarily. In the meantime, there's an even more direct interface: our old friend /stand/sysinstall.
