The Complexity of the Product and HOQs

We now look at the variations of the number of Houses of Quality (HOQs) based on the developed product. Complexity will be a key factor in determining the type and number of houses needed. We have been only using three HOQs throughout this book. In this chapter, we will discover the rationale to evaluate whether to use one, three, or four HOQs. Two houses are not normally used, so we will not spend time on that topic. The number of HOQs will be dependent on the complexity of the product being developed. Normally, a less complex product will use a single HOQ, while a moderately complex product typically requires three HOQs, and finally, a complex product uses four HOQs.
