Chapter 11. VIDEO MARKETING WITH YOUTUBE AND OTHER VIDEO SHARING SITES

Has any social media site penetrated mainstream culture as rapidly and completely as YouTube? YouTube is ubiquitous. The site is referenced on the nightly news, in a Mariah Carey song, and on Gossip Girl. Its exploding popularity has made the term video blog sound as frumpily obsolete as cyberspace or information superhighway. At the time of this writing, YouTube stands with blogs and Facebook as the most omnipresent social media channels. YouTube, of course, is not alone in providing video hosting and sharing services. The Web is also home to a broad array of other video sharing sites, including Google Video, Metacafe, Dailymotion, blip.tv, Revver, and Vimeo.
