Should You Build Your Own Social Network?
Companies sometimes look around at all of this social networking activity and think they want a piece of the action—they want to play host to the masses gathering around a particular industry. So they hire a crack team of web designers and developers, spend six figures, and build themselves a made-to-order social network. But is this the right move? Unless you're a major player with a great deal of mindshare in your industry, we don't think so. Neither does web marketer Monique Trottier, who's built her fair share of complex websites and social networks. In an interview, she tells us why:
