Custom Parts

Although Fritzing gives you access to a huge range of parts, inevitably you will discover a need for some part or other that is not available for Fritzing. You will also sometimes find that one of the parts included with Fritzing is almost what you need, but you need to alter it slightly. This is the case with the 555 timer IC used in the rear cycle lamp example, where the part name needed to be changed.

This chapter shows you how to create and modify parts for use in Fritzing. This process is complicated by the need to use a third-party graphics editor such as Inkscape to create and edit the graphics for the part.
