Chapter 2. Design
In the design phase we take our knowledge of the need and translate it into measurable performance objectives. This is the blueprinting stage, in which we identify entry behaviors, create the bare-bones outline, draft an instructional plan, and design the tests and other performance measures that will be used to assess whether the instruction has been successful.
In the excitement of moving to the development phase it is tempting to skip or skim activities that will ultimately give better results. Time spent clarifying meaningful objectives, crafting a sound evaluation plan, and developing assessments before creating content will pay off in more effective programs and instructional experiences.
