Transitioning from Social to Business
Ever since i started my training and consulting company, participants in my workshops have asked me how they can transfer their social networks into business. There are two scenarios that need to be addressed.
The first scenario is the one we discussed in Chapter 6 when your closest family and friends have put you in the friend box or pigeonholed you in another profession. For example, one day you're a bartender and the next you're a financial advisor. Or they can see you as a teacher, but not as a health and wellness expert.
The second scenario happens to all professionals regardless of what stage they are in in their careers and they often wonder how they can transfer social networks into business. The guys on the soccer team, the friends at the ski club, and the neighbors at the cottage represent huge opportunities in business. Finding the perfect rhythm to bridge the gap between social and business will be pivotal for you and the profitability of your network.
