This chapter covers the same period as the previous chapter, but this time the emphasis is on high-tech-high-hazard safety. This is often called the ‘golden years’ of safety science. Quite a few metaphors and theories were developed during this period, which are briefly summarized in this chapter. Risk and safety culture dominate the two decades covered by this chapter.
