Abstract
Big Data analysis and all of its components are thoroughly covered in this chapter. It goes into the recent exponential increase of data, underlining the important impact that developing technical innovations have played in the production of enormous volumes of data every day. The five main Big Data characteristics – volume, velocity, veracity, variety, and value – that jointly characterize the special problems and opportunities related to Big Data analytics are highlighted in this chapter.
