The purpose of evidence photo documentation is to provide a record of the appearance of physical evidence. The photographs may be used as part of the case record, as evidence in court, or by other investigators. It is crucial that photographs of evidence properly represent the appearance and condition of the evidence. It is also important that the quality of the images do not detract from the viewer’s ability to visualize that appearance.
