Summary

Shooter games are about the projection of force, usually by an individual vulnerable to others doing the same thing. The gameplay consists of making accurate shots and avoiding being hit. Within these parameters, however, there is a wide variety of ways to experience the game: as a slow, stealthy experience; as a frenetic game of tag; and many in between. Shooter games depend very heavily on level design for their experience. The concepts of cover and overwatch are critical to any shooter.
