2 Sketching
In this chapter you’ll learn how to sketch, a fundamental modeling skill. Sketches are what make parametric models parametric. We’ll look at the work plane and its settings, edit and import sketches, understand the difference between driving and driven dimensions, and discuss constraints.
The Work Plane
The work plane is the gridded surface on which you sketch (Figure 2-1). There’s a horizontal plane and two vertical planes. You can also make a work plane at any angle of your choice.
