12 Slicer for Fusion
In this chapter, we’ll use Autodesk’s Slicer for Fusion app to make 2D patterns from a model.
Slicer for Fusion is not a “slicer” in the way that the word is used for software that turns an STL file into 3D-printable g-code. It is a program that cuts patterns that can be exported as PDF and DXF files and used as templates to cut flat sheets with manual tools (such as a band saw or jigsaw) or CNC cutting tools (such as a laser or router). Typical Slicer projects include puzzles, terrain models (Figure 12-1), folded panels, sculptures, furniture, crafts, and prototypes.
