Game Design Outlets
So you’ve decided you want to be a game designer, and reading and work

ing through the exercises in this book have given you the tools to become
one. Now you need to put your talents to good use by researching the
gaming industry and publicizing your abilities and worth.
The Top Publishers in the Gaming Industry
Who are the top publishers in the gaming industry and how do you let
them know about your talents and skills?
Note: Please realize that every day studios merge, get bought out by
other publishers, or are closed down, so use this information as a great
starting point. If you play games from these publishers and their studios,
send them e-mail comments on the game such as “this feature was
good” or “this feature would have been better if…” and you may get a
job as a tester or make valuable connections to pitch your game design
to someone inside the company. When contacting any company, ask for
their producer or a producer named in the credits. No company ever
screens calls to the producer, and it’s the producer who usually recom
-
mends future games to be developed.
