Dibromomethane (CH2Br2) is a strongly polar molecule that has 78 electrons. Its electronic polarizability is 10.37 × 10−40 F m2, dipole moment 1.42 D, and ionization potential 10.50 eV. The molecule has nine vibrational modes as shown in Table 56.1 (Shimanouchi, 1972).
