DICHLOROETHENE
CONTENTS
Dichloroethene (C2H2Cl2), also called dichloroethylene, is a polar molecule with 48 electrons and a derivative of ethene (C2H4) with two hydrogen atoms replaced with two chlorine atoms. Three isomers are known and their selected properties are shown in Table 77.1.
The three isomers of C2H2Cl2 have, each, 12 modes of vibrational excitation as shown in Tables 77.2 and 77.3 (Shimanouchi, 1972).
