In this chapter, I look at one of the most important documents for GDPR compliance: the Privacy Notice, a document — sometimes lengthy and often complicated — that details how you, as the data controller, gather and use personal data. Every business, no matter how small, needs to have a Privacy Notice in place, and it’s vital to get it right.
You do not need to provide a Privacy Notice relating to personal data you are acting as a data processor in relation to, but as a data processor, you will also be a data controller in relation to certain personal data (such as names and emails addresses of your customers) and you will need a Privacy Notice for this personal data.
This chapter will help you understand what you need to include in your Privacy Notice, what to do with the notice, and where you can obtain a template to make this task easy for you.
