The presence of humans in the GenAI loop is indispensable. People are involved in every step of GenAI’s creation and operation. The data GenAI needs to operate is created by humans, even machine data because the machines, too, are manmade. People build supercomputers and GenAI models and design the training datasets. Humans train GenAI models in a variety of other ways too, from digitalizing their subject matter expertise to refining outputs through a variety of feedback means. I make this point simply to underscore the importance of humans to the birth and continued existence of GenAI. When you look at GenAI, you should see it as a reflection of us with all the flaws and possibilities that implies. You should also be keenly aware that GenAI models are a reflection of humans, not a peer or a superior being and therefore are incapable of replacing or ruling mankind.
