It’s any shot or sequence that reveals to the audience some inhuman or supernatural feature of the antagonist, but is not revealed to the character, at least not right away.
How’s it done?
This is done as a practical makeup shot on set.
When should I use it?
You should use this shot when you want your audience to know of a threat before the protagonist in the film knows of it.
