The Abduction Shot
What does it look like?
It’s a shot that is characterized by a strong beam of light coming from an alien object that seemingly takes control of the character’s facilities.
How’s it done?
It’s done on set with a very powerful light.
When should I use it?
Use this shot to show a character who is overtaken by an alien force. The more direct and “heavenly” the beam of light, the better.

Synopsis: While driving through the countryside with his friends, Travis Walton is struck by a bolt of energy beaming from the sky and then disappears for days. When he returns, he claims he was abducted by aliens and spent the week on their ship.
