Introduction

Geography, as a subject, has evolved over time. From the days when the subject was dominated by Greek, Roman and Arab geographers, it has seen widespread development. Today, the discipline has branched out into several branches, such as physical geography, cultural geography, GIS and remote sensing, cartographic techniques, economic geography, social geography, environmental geography, geography of settlements (urban as well as rural), amongst many other branches of geography.
