SOCIAL MEDIA AND DISCONNECTION

Growing up, I was the only one out of my friend group who had a computer in my room. These were the days of AIM, Yahoo, and AOL chat rooms. I didn’t have social media, a cell phone, or e-mail. Back then, the only way to get a news update was to turn on the television or listen to the radio. Celebrity gossip sites were few and far between, you exchanged money at the bank or at an ATM, you phoned a restaurant to request delivery, and you shopped in-store at the mall. Facebook was not a thing. Texting was not a thing. E-mailing was not a thing. Jonathan Taylor Thomas? Totally a thing!

Today’s world is much different. My phone currently has the following app “notifications”:
