“What do you want to be when you grow up?” My folks asked me that question well into my teen years. My usual answer: “I want to be a baseball player or a fireman — probably a fighter pilot.” Well, by high school, I figured out that I wouldn’t be getting any sports contracts, but I still wasn’t quite sure.
