In every major metropolitan area, there are always clubs that are THE spot to be and near impossible to gain entry. You can tell which one by the ridiculously long lines and notoriously difficult doormen. Inevitably, while you are waiting in line, there is a group of people who walk right to the front with a hug or handshake with the doorman and stroll right into the bar, while the rest of the people wait for their turn, which often never comes. I have been on both sides of this equation, and I have to admit that I prefer not waiting in line.
