The concept of object cloning in 3ds Max is one of its most powerful features for increasing efficiency and flexibility. It establishes editing connections between objects and reduces memory overhead by decreasing the amount of information required to be saved with each object.
You’ll learn two methods of creating clones from original objects; the most popular method is to clone objects while transforming them and the other method is to clone objects in place. Each one has its own uses, but the end result is the same with either of the methods.
Some of the fundamental techniques you’ll learn in this chapter are:
- Cloning concepts
- Clone types
