Chapter 8. Getting and Fixing 3D Models

In the previous chapter we looked at the procedures, or workflow, involved in bringing your 3D model from concept to reality. In this chapter we’ll look at ways for you to get 3D models for printing and examine some of the issues you may need to consider when doing so. In the next chapter, we’ll look at how to make your own 3D models from scratch.

For most people who are getting started with 3D printing, it all begins with downloading an existing 3D model. In fact, if you purchase a 3D printer as a kit, very often there will be improvements to the 3D printer parts that the manufacturer will ask you to download and print.
