20 Denise Becomes a Motivational Speaker

WHEN DENISE ENTERED the assembly area, she saw Joe, who was leading the morning shift, talking to one of the operators in line three. Joe waved and gave her a big smile. After he finished his conversation, he came over.
“Hey boss, congratulations on your new job,” he said, looking sly. “I guess that’s what they call a promotion around here.”
News is spreading fast in the plant, as always, Denise thought. The employees who were born and bred in Guilderville, like Joe, are all connected. As an outsider, you never really get to be a part of the whisper network, but it’s nice that they have each other’s backs.
