OVER THE NEXT weeks Denise and the team further intensified their pace. Denise hadn’t heard anything more from David about the shenanigans of Dick, but she knew she had to just keep her head down, continue her work, and trust that David would provide cover.
More importantly, she hadn’t heard from Jason either – she wasn’t quite sure if they were on a break or broken up, but what did it matter? A break was just a preamble to a breakup. He had missed several of the project team meetings, too, emailing his fellow focus topic members to say he was sorry, but “there were urgent matters in sales.”
The team now had a quick all hands every morning ...
