Throughout modern history, Iran has experienced significant waves of antiglobalist and anti-Western sentiments. It is therefore somewhat paradoxical that, over the past decades, the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), a state-owned corporation, has emerged as the world’s second largest player in the global petroleum industry.
