Internationalization of China’s Higher Education and its Bearing on China’s National Development

In the last decades with the implementation of the open-door policy and higher education reforms, and influences of globalization, much progress has been achieved in the internationalization of higher education in China. This chapter presents a brief historic review of the internationalization of higher education in China since the end of 1970s with a focus on the measures taken by the Chinese government to promote the internationalization of higher education, and analyses the advantages and disadvantages of the internationalization of Chinese higher education and the bearings on China’s national development.
