Doing real ally work for women requires more than showing up as an excellent colleague. It goes beyond noticing and confronting bias, sexism, harassment, and inequality. It requires you to become an all-in advocate for talented women who should be noticed, pushed forward for opportunities, and promoted to serious leadership positions. Recent evidence suggests that many women are undersponsored and, therefore, fail to advance in their organizations.1 Particularly in male-dominated industries, women benefit mightily from the sponsorship of men who are well positioned and well networked.2
