The Google Apps Start Page is a customizable web page that lets you add independent boxes of content and programs, called Google Gadgets, to create something dynamic and useful.

Well, that’s the marketing, anyway. But as you’re going to see, Start Page has a long way to go before it matures into something truly practical.

Decorating with Themes

If you use Start Page with a regular ol’ Google account (in that case, by the way, it’s not called Start Page—it’s called iGoogle), instead of a Google Apps account, you get your choice of a wide array of themes you can pick for your page, including the following:
