4 THE STANDARD IN DETAIL

So now we know what the standard does in the way of providing advice and how it came about, let us look at how it is structured. First, we make no apologies for the fact that the standard is short in length. The standard is designed to be read by busy people and is divided into three sections for easy reference, as follows:

  1. Scope, application and objectives – covering who should read the standard and why.
  2. Framework – covering a set of principles and a model demonstrating IT governance tasks and activities in an organisation.
  3. Guidance – providing some examples of how the standard could be applied.
