You can’t get around it: You absolutely must know vocabulary to do well on the GRE. Regardless of your conversational expertise, the GRE tests your grasp of commonly used academic and intellectual vocabulary words. Mastering new vocabulary words is more than just reading this chapter. You need to make it part of your daily practice. Study daily. Revisit the words you think you already know. Knowing as many vocabulary words as possible helps immensely with the Verbal section. You can also improve your vocabulary by reading novels, articles, and so on.
