INTRODUCTION

In order to begin to explore corporate greening, the first issue that needs to be investigated is the specific environmental challenges faced by corporations, the second is the ways in which corporations can respond to such challenges. This chapter begins by summarizing seven key environmental challenges to the activities of corporations: atmosphere, toxic chemicals and waste, freshwater, land, oceans, biotechnology and biodiversity.
