The concept of grit has been growing in popularity in recent years. It’s an essential quality for facing stress, pushing through difficulties, and overcoming obstacles both at work and in life. But not everyone has grit, nor do they understand how to build it.

Shannon Huffman Polson knows all about the kind of mental and emotional fortitude that so many experts say people need. She was one of the first women to pilot the Apache attack helicopter in the U.S. Army, has launched a successful corporate and consulting career, and is the author of The Grit Factor: Courage, Resilience, and Leadership in the Most Male-Dominated Organization in the World.
