Although the actual text of this book took exactly one year to produce, the content had been gradually forming for over a decade before I was ready to write it down. During this time I have been discussing, collaborating and fighting with, as well as been influenced, inspired and awed by the best minds in the human-computer interaction and ubiquitous computing research communities. It has been a privilege to interact with so many smart people over the years, and I hope to continue to do so for a long time to come.
