When Risk Taking Feels Like Jumping Off a Cliff
When asked, most executives wish they had taken more risk early in their careers. Easy to say when they’re at the top! What stopped them? You too probably take less risk than is good for your career or your company.
How do you know which ones to take? You don’t ever really know. Some risks are invisible. Sometimes, not doing anything is the biggest risk. Everything turns out to be a risk! That’s why exposure to risk taking helps, as does learning from people who took bold risks. It’s great when they succeed. We learn even more when they crash. We get a thrill in both cases, and we get a better understanding of the line between acceptable and crazy.
