Analyzing the Process Model
Once the model is built, you should analyze it and look for opportunities to improve the result. Using the process model, investigate "what if " scenarios. Others may request specific improvement goals, and you will be asked to find ways to meet them. Here are some common examples:
Reduce the maximum time throughout the process.
Reduce the typical time.
Reduce the minimum time throughout for special cases.
Allow for an increase in time for one step and maintain the same time throughout the process.
On a decision point, decrease the percentage of time for the more expensive decision.
For parallel tasks, focus on the most expensive task for time reductions.
