Introduction

Like many entrepreneurs, when I started my first company, I didn’t know any other entrepreneurs. My frame of reference was the corporate world, in which I had cut my professional teeth, so to speak. As I progressed, I found myself facing all sorts of opportunities and challenges that I would have been able to navigate much more smoothly had I had the knowledge I do now. It was not until I was well into operating my second company that I began to meet fellow entrepreneurs whose companies were at similar stages of growth. Once we began to share experiences, I realized that I was not alone and that my experiences were not unique.
