IN TODAY'S DAY and age, self-publishing an aggregation of one's thoughts is easier than ever. Yet as I complete my efforts to share my thoughts with you about what makes a CFO successful, I am very grateful to John Wiley & Sons for its support in making this book happen. Sheck Cho, my executive editor, has encouraged me and guided me from the idea that I should write a book to the proposal for this book to our agreement to the very challenging yet satisfying journey I faced in putting this book together. This is my first book, and I truly believe that if it were not for the efforts of Sheck and the team at Wiley, you would not be reading these words today.
Just as the CFO has a relationship map (see Chapter 8), I have my own relationship map. My success is due in large part to the relationships I have and continue to build and nurture. My key relationships are the people I work for, work with, and the people who support me.
The people I work for are my clients. These are the people who engage me to deliver the best executive search and coaching services possible. I enjoy every moment of working to meet their needs and their expectations. I am grateful for the trust they place in me. There is no better measure of success than being paid well for work that I love to do. My goal with this book is to help my executive search clients hire the very best financial professionals and guide my executive coaching clients to become the very best they can be.
